Doctor's Appointment

Today Kaylee had her two month doctors appointment and got her first set of shots. I was unable to get off of work so my mom took her for me (Thanks Mom). I wanted to be there but I wasn't too upset because I didn't really want to be in there when she got her shots anyways. I can't stand to see her upset. My mom said she only cried for a second then they were giving her the polio vaccine which is taken orally, she hushed right up....this kid will eat anything :) She weighs 12 pounds even and is in the 50th percentile for height and the 76th percentile for weight...chunky monkey!! The doctor said I can start giving her white grape juice...i'm sure she'll love it....and she can start eating fruits and veggies at 4 months. I can't wait for that!! She will go back to the doctor in July for her 4 month check-up and her next round of shots!! I wonder how big she will be by then?? I don't have any pictures since I wasn't able to go...but my mom said she has pretty sparkly band-aids so i will make sure I post a picture later :)

Memorial Day

Memorial Day was Kaylee's first holiday. We didn't really do too much, but we enjoyed having the day off and pretty much hung around the house all day enjoying each others company. I think we all stayed in our PJ's until about 2:00..haha. Last night I took Kaylee to the Principe's to meet Rebecca and Alice Rockliffe. Rebecca used to babysit me and the boys and the Principe girls when we were little (boy did she have her hands full). HAHA. Rebecca now lives out of town with her husband and I haven't seen her in about 5 years! I'm so glad we got to meet up and she got to meet Kaylee!!

2 Months Old

Yesterday Kaylee turned two months old...it's so hard to believe. She is getting SO big SO fast!! I already have a whole box of clothes packed up that don't fit her anymore :) She is getting to be so much more fun now that she doesn't just sleep all day!! She always wakes up very happy and yesterday she even started talking a little bit...it was so cute. I'm not sure how much she weighs now but im guessing about 12 pounds. She goes to the doctor on Friday for her shots so we will see. I gave her a little bit of rice cereal from a spoon yesterday for breakfast and she really liked it. I know it's a little early but I just wanted to see what she would do. At first she made some really funny faces like she wasn't too sure about it, but then she started opening up her mouth like she wanted more and she even cried when it was gone..little piggy!! She hasn't started smiling yet, so hopefully that will be soon...I can't wait to be able to make her smile. She slept 8 hours straight last night..I was so proud. I didn't think that day would ever come..LOL. Hopefully it wasn't just a fluke and she will actually start doing that everynight. Month two has been great and we can't wait to see what she will start doing next and how much she will grow within this next month. Here are some picture from this last month.

Prayer Request

I'm sure many of you may have already heard that christian singer Steven Curtis Chapman's daughter Maria Sue passed away on Wednesday night. They adopted her from China and she was the youngest of their six children, 5 years old. It was a tragic accident and this family really needs prayer. Her older brother was backing out of the driveway where she was playing and accidentally ran over her. My heart is heavy for this family and I have realized that life can be so short and we never know what tomorrow will bring. My prayers go out especially to her brother who will have to live with this for the rest of his life, he will never be the same. I pray that God will give him peace!! This morning on 88.1 the promise they played a tribute version of the song "Cinderella" that Stevin Curtis Champan wrote for his daughters, it has little Maria Sue singing throughout the song and it is such a blessing. Tune into 88.1 to hear it..they will be playing it all throughout the day! Please keep this family in your prayers.

Big Girl!!

Our big girl has slept in her crib in her own room for the past 2 nights. John and I were a little paranoid to put her in her own room, but she kept waking up at 4:30 when he got up to get ready for work so we decided it might be the best thing to do. We went out Saturday night and got monitors and decided we would give it a shot. I kept her bassinet by my bed because I wasnt sure how long she would last in there. She had her bath and bottle and went to bed around 9:30. For the first hour and a half she was in there John and I sat on the couch and just listened to her breathing in the monitor. Every time she would move all night I was sure she was waking up..but she slept 7 hours...this was the longest she had ever done. She woke up at 4:30 and I fed her and changed her and put her back down and she slept until 6 when she decided she was up for the day!!! But a 7 hour stretch was good for me...if only she would do that everynight. Last night wasn't as good. She was sleeping all arternoon and I coouldn't wake her up to feed her so I ended up putting her to bed without feeding her at 8:30...I know she wouldn't sleep all night since she didn't eat..but she slept until 1:30 then went right back to sleep. When John got up to leave at 5:00, she had been moving around for a while and I told him to go ahead and bring her into bed with me since we only had one hour left until we had to get up and get ready. I am hoping that maybe if I start feeding her and putting her to bed around 10:30-or 11:00 she will sleep until 6:00 when we have to get up and get ready....we'll see!!!

Mother's Day

Yesterday I had my first wonderful Mother's Day. We slept in...(well if you call 7:30 sleeping in) then got up and went to Fernindina. We skipped out on church since Kaylee has a little cold and we didn't want her to fuss through the sermon. I wanted Barbecue for lunch so we went to Sticky Fingers and I got ribs..They were fantastic. Then we went home and just hung out until bed time. This morning I got to my mom and dad's house and Kaylee had made me a mother's day present ;) My mom had done impressions of her hands and got a little plaque to put them on...I'll be sure to post a picture later..they are so cute!! Being a mom is so wonderful and makes me appreciate my mother so much more than I ever did...Thanks mom for everything you do for me!! Here are a few pictures from us last night hanging around the house. Kisses from Mommy

rite picture of them so far!!!

"Before I was a Mom"

This is a really cute poem I came across and thought I would share for Mother's Day!!

Before I was a Mom I made and ate hot meals.
I had unstained clothing.
I had quiet conversations on the phone.

Before I was a Mom I slept as late as I wanted
And never worried about how late
I got into bed.
I brushed my hair and my teeth everyday.

Before I was a Mom,
I cleaned my house each day
I never tripped over toys
or forgot words to lullabies.

Before I was a Mom,
I didn't worry whether or not my
plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.

Before I was a Mom,
I had never been pooped on,
Spit up on,
Chewed on,
Peed on,
Or pinched by tiny fingers.

Before I was a Mom,
I had complete control of myself;
My thoughts,
My body,
And my mind.I slept all night.

Before I was a Mom,
I never held down a screaming child
so that doctors could do tests or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.

Before I was a Mom,
I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put it down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces
when I couldn't stop the hurt.
I never knew something so small could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom.

Before I was a Mom,
I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body.
I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby.
I didn't know that bond between a Mother and her child.
I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important.

Before I was a Mom,
I had never gotten up in the middle of
the night every ten minutes to make sure all was okay.
I had never known the warmth,
The joy,
The love,
The heartache,
The wonderfulment,
Or the satisfaction of being a Mom.
I didn't know I was capable of feeling so
much before I was a Mom.

Princess Kaylee...

Last night after Kaylee's bath I decided to play dress up with her. HAHA!! Aunt Lori got her this robe for one of my showers and I couldn't wait to use it. I saw it at Walmart when I first found out I was pregnant and I wanted to get it before I even knew I was having a girl just because I thought it was so cute. Farryn and Ashlyn got her some matching slippers. Isn't she just too cute!! She's not to sure whats going on!!
Too cute!
The shoes were way to big...but I couldn't resist.

Ruth's Chris

Saturday night John's parents kept Kaylee for us while we went to Ruth's Chris for dinner. I got a giftcard from work a few months ago and we decided to save it until after I had Kaylee so we could enjoy a nice evening out. We had both been there before and loved it so we couldn't want to go back. The food was absolutly amazing and we had a great time talking and hanging out "just the two of us" although I did miss Kaylee. She was such a good girl and slept the entire time we were gone. Here is a picture of us at his parents before we left.
I think she was mid yawn...thats why she looks like she is screaming LOL

1 Week Down!!!

Well I have officicially made it through my first week back at work. Things are going good and we are starting to get in a routine which is nice. We wake up at 6:00 a.m., I feed Kaylee her bottle and put her in her swing in the bathroom with me while I take a shower and get ready. Then I get her ready and we leave the house by 7:00. We get to my parent's house at 7:25 and I go over everything with my mom and leave there by 7:40 to get to work at 8:30. I get off work at 5:00 and get back to my parent's house by 5:45 to pick her up. We usually leave there by 6:00 and get home by 6:30. My wonderful husband has dinner ready when we get there so I come straight in and eat. After dinner around 7:30 I give Kaylee her bath and then John watches her while I clean her bottles and do any other household chores that needs to be done and lay out all our things for the next day. Around 8:30 we head upstairs and I take a shower then put Kaylee to bed while John takes his shower and then we get in bed. The days are pretty packed and don't leave too much time for fun or resting, but I think I am going to enjoy the weekends a lot more than I used to. Here are a few pictures from this morning before work!! Getting Ready to go to Mami's
Cuddling for a few minutes before I head to work!!

6 Weeks Old

It's hard to believe that our precious baby girl is already 6 weeks old. These have been the best 6 weeks of my life. Kaylee is so wonderful and I don't know what I would do without her. She is such a sweet little girl. Kaylee weighed 6.14 when she was born and now she weighs 10 pounds. She is growing so fast..it's hard to believe that some of her clothes already don't fit her. During her 6 weeks of life Kaylee has already been many places like the doctor, church, St. John's Town Center, Avenue's mall, Sonny's, Joe's Crab Shack and many more places. She does really good in the car and we have no problems with her when we take her places. Since I am back at work now Kaylee spends her days with Mami (my mom), she is getting spoiled already. She is not sleeping as well as I would like for her to, but I guess that will come with time. Here are a few pictures of Kaylee at 6 weeks.

Wish she slept this good at night!

Rockin' Away the Tummy Troubles

Kaylee has been having some issues with gas for the past few weeks and she gets fussy when it starts bothering her. The other day she was fussing and John layed her in the seat of the rocking chair and started rocking it...immediately she stopped crying and went to sleep. Now every time she starts fussing we put her there and she loves it. Works every time!!
Happier Already
Works every time!!

1st Day Back to Work

Friday was my first day back to work after having Kaylee and I cried the whole way there..haha.. I decided it would be easier to go back on a Friday so I would have only one day before the weekend. I only ended up working until lunch time because I missed Kaylee so much. I am so thankful that my mom is able to keep her while I work because I have no doubt that she will be well taken care of and spoiled rotten. I only called about once every hour to check on her..haha..I promised my mom that I would try to do a little better next week!!
She didn't seem to mind to much that I was leaving her :)
